A random assortment of stuff in my house!
June 21st 2009 10:23
I was feeling particularly bored this evening, and my brother left his fancy camera laying around, so I had no choice. I started to take pictures of random things laying about my home.
These are just very unnecessary pictures, but I thought it would be kind of fun to give a little bird's eye view into my life. But there is no rhyme or reason as to why I took pictures of the things that I did. Welcome to my cluttered and complex mind
Don't be afraid if you catch a glimpse of shag carpeting or wood paneling. My old (Actually, I prefer to use the word "Vintage") apartment somewhat resembles a 70's porn set.
Here's what it sounds like. Kind of a funky version!

A small portion of my DVD collection and other misc. crap. Yes, that is the Oprah Collection you see featured prominently in the middle!
I paid a pretty penny for this giant print of Andrew Wyeth's "Christina's World". Somewhat morbid painting of a girl who is unable to reach her home. I love it.
I don't care if you think it's ugly! This is my favorite bag that I carry with me wherever I go. It is HUGE, blue, gawdy, and I LOVE it!
My crap takes over the house. Literally everything on these shelves belongs to me. You'll notice my awesome collection of paranormal books, political books, odds and ends, blah blah blah... I have way too much crapola people! You'll get a better view of this junk if you click on the picture.
A small stack of vinyl recently added to my collection. I need to weed through it and see what to keep and what to get rid of. The most prized part of this collection? The Ben-Hur soundtrack that came with a hard cover book from the movie. Awesome!
My beautiful Viola. If you look closely, you'll see a small package labeled "Nat's G-String". Don't get too excited. It's literally a replacement G String. The C string is right next to it!
What is Nat's most recent selection for her Viola? Why, Second Hungarian Rhapsody, of course! It's at the top of my Liszt. LOL What do you think about all of the scarves tied to my music stand? Very Steven Tyler, no?
Here's what it sounds like. Kind of a funky version!
My selection of mostly vintage necklaces. I've worn them all on occasion. Even the owl. I know! I'm so cool!
The album is a selection from Hamlet with Richard Burton. The beautiful silver platter belonged to my great-grandmother.
This is how my super cool brother and I were entertaining ourselves before I started taking pictures! Don't you wish you could come and party at my house?!?!?

There's a lot of really cool stuff around your place.
I especially liked looking at the owl pendant on your necklace, the fabulous blue bag and all the artwork.
Also good camera work! I know some say it doesn't take a genius to operate a camera, but I really have poor photographic skills.
Cheers!

I LOVE that owl necklace! I can't remember where I got it. And you and I might be the only people on the planet who like that bag. I think it is fantastic!
I'm such a voyeur, I always want to see other people's junk, so I figured there must be others that are so inclined.
I will credit the camera work to my bro's fancy new gadget.
Thanks for stopping by!

Bryn, it's a melancholy painting, isn't it? I've been criticized for having it featured so prominently in my living room, but it just speaks to me.

As much as I like to think that I'm not a materialistic person, I realize that I have quite the impressive build up of junk that I have formed a sick attachment to!

you know not long after you wrote about that painting i did an art analysis on it, you might be interested:
A lone figure in vast farmlands, Christina is quite vulnerable to the rugged environment, but braves it anyway to enjoy the beauty of the scene and her freedom. The landscape is largely dry and barren but has a softness to it which is strangely inviting. An otherwise daunting scene radiates a sense of safety to the viewer. The inclusion of a "crippled" young girl transforms the setting to something accomodating and approachable.
Christina's World is about familiarity trumping fear. Wyeth has captured the feeling of home and the wonder of youth. The figure of Christina is physically limited but also in the enviable position of appreciating the things she does have.
Christina Olson died in 1969. She had lived in the house her entire life. Neighbors say she had no idea that her small world had become famous.
Christina's World is now displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Andrew Wyeth passed away 16 January, 2009, aged 91.
"In the portraits of that house, the windows are eyes or pieces of the soul, almost," Wyeth said. "To me, each window is a different part of Christina's life."
