Breaking News: "Famous Person" loves Sarah Palin!
October 3rd 2008 23:37
This is truly amusing.
In the wake of attacks by the McCain campaign against Barack Obama and his "celebrity status", it appears that they've changed their tune, and are now promoting celebrity affiliations.
Case in point, this ad that appeared online this morning featuring a smiling Sarah Palin and the quote, "She killed. It was her evening. She was the star. -- Famous Person (10/2/08)"
That's right. They apparently determined that the identity of the "famous Person" was not important. Just the fact that it happened is enough to advertise and celebrate!
In defense of the McCain crew, Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal was quoted as saying of Palin and the VP debate, "She killed. It was her evening. She was the star." So, obviously, Noonan is the "famous person" in question. I bet she is having mixed feelings today about the ad. On one hand, she was considered "famous" by a Presidential campaign, but on the other hand, not famous enough to name!
In defense of the ad, McCain campaign blogger Michael Goldfarb stated, "If there's no factual inaccuracy, I don't know what the problem is."
Here is what I think happened. Noonan is famous, but mainly in political circles. But, political junkies are not exactly the target audience of the McCain posse. Therefore, they cashed in on the fact that a well known journalist made such a statement, but decided that naming her would be confusing to the people that they were trying to attract.
In any case, it made me smile!
