Coming to terms with one's own immaturity
July 23rd 2009 03:56
As I do believe I've discussed before, and likely is evidenced by a variety of my posts.... I've got a rather strange sense of humor. While at times I like sarcasm and witty banter, other times my mind is planted square in the gutter. And it isn't just the dirty jokes that I love. I sadly find myself laughing hysterically at the most juvenile of gags.
I've accepted this. I've embraced it. But sometimes....sometimes I catch myself off guard with my own immaturity. You'd really think I have the mentality of a teenage boy at times.
Case in point. Have you seen the trailer for that new 3D animated movie G-Force? The one about the little rodents that are apparently some kind of secret agents? Well, the first time I saw it, was when I was at the movie UP, which I cannot recommend highly enough by the way, and I recall thinking, "Man. That looks really stupid." And I didn't give it another thought.
Until a few days ago. The commercial for this kid's movie is on TV now constantly, and I have been tuning it out. Actually, I'm a total channel flipper. If I'm watching a show, and it goes to commercial, I cannot be bothered to watch them, so I flip until I find something else that interests me, which generally makes me forget about what I was watching previously, and then I get pissed.
Aaaannnyway, so one day I was watching TV with a friend (I won't tell you what we were watching because that would be a whole new embarrassment) and the G-Force commercial came on. She HATES channel flipping, so I was forced to watch it. That's when it happened.
Yes, I still think the movie looks pretty dumb. But, there is one part in the trailer where this guinea pig is being held in the air by some person, and he says, "What should I do?" Switch to a cage full of mice who chant in unison, "Poop in his hand! Poop in his hand!"
This sent me into a fit of hysterics like I haven't experienced in a long time. I was laughing so hard, I could barely contain myself. As my friend looked at me with a perplexed and somewhat disdainful gaze, I wiped the tears from my face and managed to compose myself. Yup, this is the high brow humor that only a true sophisticate like myself could truly appreciate!
Here's the trailer. The Poop joke is at the very end.
You cannot tell me that's not at least a little bit funny!
Here are a couple of other stupid things that made me giggle.

Bryn, oh I thought Up was great. But then, I hadn't really heard much about it, so I didn't know what to expect. It was touching. You're right though. Not as moving as Wall-E. I don't know if anything could come close to that. I haven't seen Monsters vs. Aliens! I want to, though.
I'm 31 going on 16!

A good belch is always good for a snort too! Not that I snort when I laugh. But if I did, that would be amusing too! Hahahaha! No wonder I get along so well with my younger brother!
