It came to me in a dream....

August 11th 2009 02:43
Mary Shelley claimed that her inspiration for Frankenstein came to her in a "waking dream". Later it was discovered that there really was a Dr. Frankenstein, he really did have a castle, and he actually was fond of robbing graves for body parts in an effort to somehow discover the elixir of life. Mary and her then beau Percey Shelley had visited this castle years prior to her writing of the book, and thus her true inspiration came from fact...or so the story goes.

It is much more romantic to imagine that the real revelation of Frankenstein's monster came on a dark and stormy night, when a glamorous group of bohemian literati shared horror stories into the wee hours. I love the image of Mary Shelley and Lord Byron scaring each other silly with their wild imaginations and dark thoughts. Maybe that really did happen. I hope so.

Anyway, I was thinking about all of this as I awoke several days ago from a dream of my own. In this dream...perhaps more of a revelation...I saw myself exactly where I've always wanted to be... the owner of a successful business that afforded me endless hours to pursue my own writing, and finding inspiration at every turn.

This dream cannot be shaken. I keep thinking about it and dwelling on it. I'm not going to reveal the exact details of the dream, because I want to see if I can make it come true first, but whereas before I always wondered exactly how I'd execute this business plan/pipe dream of mine... I now know how to do it, and I think I'm adequately motivated to make it happen!

Not only that, but I've also received inspiration in another form. I'm shelving my novel that I've shared here. I know. I was almost done, and mostly I was proud of what I'd accomplished, but I hit a wall, and became increasingly dissatisfied with the direction of the story. Rather than toil over laborious rewrites and editing, I'm putting it on hold, and I've embarked on a new adventure.

Further, I've decided that this time, I'm going to do it all out in the open, so that I won't be distracted. If you're interested in seeing what I'm talking about... click on the link below:

Natalina's Fiction: Tanglewood - Prologue

Life is far too short to sit around and think about the things we'd like to be doing. It's best to just get off of your ass and do it, damn it! After all, Katy Perry claims that "I Kissed a Girl" came to her in a dream, and look where she ended up! (Ok, really bad example as I cannot stand Katy or that song...)

Today, the United States of America witnessed the Historic Inauguration of our 44th President, Barack Obama!

President Barack Obama

I have been working and waiting for this day for over 2 years, and it is both uplifting and surreal. Take a moment to view the video below.

As I write this I am watching the traditional Presidential parade, and I am filled with so much pride and hope. God Bless America!!

On a sad note, Senator Ted Kennedy was removed from the Presidential luncheon this afternoon by streatcher, after having suffered from prolonged convulsions. As we know, Senator Kennedy has been suffering from brain cancer.

As our hearts are lifted with the promise of a new day in America, let us keep Senator Kennedy in our thoughts and prayers. He has been a staunch defender of civil rights throughout his lifetime, and we wish he and his family all the best at this bittersweet moment.

Today, the road to the historic Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama, was celebrated in Washington D.C. with the "We Are One" concert at the Lincoln Memorial. The concert featured rousing speeches and amazing performances. The most memorable moment being Barack Obama's address.

This Pre-Inauguration celebration was streamed for free online by HBO, and millions of Americans and people from all over the world were able to witness the excitement.

From President Elect Obama and Vice President Elect Biden placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, to the performances, to Obama's speech, it was a wonderful day. The looks on the faces of the people gathered in D.C. made my heart soar. We are really going to do this. They gathered in the tens of thousands in the freezing cold to be a part of this event in our lives, and I really believe that the Nation cannot help but be driven to Change by the momentum that we are feeling right now.

Sure, there are those who would try to spoil this amazing moment in history, and this pivotal time in our lives, but luckily for them, he will be their President as well, and 80% of Americans are behind Obama, urging him to help us regain our image in this world, and take our Country back from the brink!

I've been scouring the web for complete video of speeches and events, but so far there isn't much. MSNBC.COM has provided a great synopsis of the day's events. You can see the videos here: (Warning! Some of this footage is very moving )

MTV.Com also has some great footage that you can view via this link:

And below are some images from the event. I will be attempting to keep you updated with all of the latest from the Road to the Inauguration!
