My hero: Philip

October 21st 2009 21:37
This video is so inspirational it gave me a good cry. Filmed during a marriage equality hearing in April of this year in Maine, Philip delivered his testimony to the nearly 4,000 attendees.

As a life long Republican and a veteran of World War II, he displays the kind of courage and compassion that I hope will one day be the rule and not the exception.

Love Prophet

September 29th 2009 07:58
(I'm tuned in tonight.)

To me, there is irrefutable proof of the divine spark. Pure love has manifested on Earth already. Now in the heavens...now in the cosmos...now in the hearts of those who still are tuned in to the blissful frequency that transcends time and death.

Only a man...no. Much more.

A giant. A hero. A gift. A prophet. A light.

Smelling of Earth and Herb and Peace and Love.

Creator of a sacred moment in time that gives tangible evidence of palpable grace.

One Love.

For my friend

To My Kindred Spirit

by Todd-Michael St. Pierre

We share secrets, we laugh and even cry,

We have so much in common,

Concerns, likes and dislikes.

Ours is a relationship joined by

Tender velvet chains that link our

similar dreams of life and love.

A gentle intuition guides us in our

individual struggles to succeed

at the things we pursue, to stand

out from the crowd.

In you I have found so much of myself,

Including many of the same

Insecurities and philosophies.

Complete inner-peace and happiness,

These are the things I wish for you,

in the present and in the future

because you are my kindred spirit.

Five of my Favorite People

July 15th 2009 23:57
A Looooong time ago, I said I was going to do a regular post featuring my favorite people. I think I posted ONE! So, I have some catching up to do. This is just a list of some of my favorite people in the whole wide world. (Excluding my friends, who know they are my true favorites!) In no particular order. Clearly, this is not a complete list. I like a lot of people!

Shirley Bassey

Dame Shirley Bassey is a world class performer, and I never tire of watching her on stage. She's incredible. So much energy, pipes to kill for, and quite a character. She KILLS me! La Diva Absoluta!

This is my Life. Love it. From a 1973 performance. That purple fur jacket is the SHIT! I would wear that.

I (Who Have Nothing). This is Natalina's favorite. I love singing this song. I'm singing it right now!

Everyone responsible for Adiemus

They all get a collective ranking among my favorite people. This song is so moving, and the imagery from the video is equally stirring. I have this song on a CD, and have gotten quite a few confused looks as I drive around with the window down, singing along with Adiemus. Luckily, I really couldn't give a rip what people think!

Sarah Brightman

There is no Diva above Sarah Brightman. She is my obsession. The most awe inspiring soprano in the world (My opinion, but I'm right) Sarah Brightman will peel your skin off with her sweetness and sadness. As the former wife of Andrew Lloyd Webber, she's played every role to perfection...and continues to take risks with her ethereal voice and otherworldly beauty.

Nessun Dorma - Seriously, look at her. Damn.

Chase the Morning scene from Repo - The Genetic Opera. Sarah Brightman played Blind Mag. I don't care what anyone says. I thought this movie was brilliant!

Bette Davis

Bette Davis was an incredible talent, a beautiful face, and an intense personality. My mother's love for Bette spilled over to me. She is the ultimate actress, because she had all of the glamor of a true star, and yet she wasn't afraid to get ugly and raw in her roles.

Scene from one of my favorite movies, What ever happened to Baby Jane? Bette Davis played a decaying former child star, who holds her sister Joan Crawford captive in their home.

Nice little montage of great Bette Davis moments

John Malkovich

I just love this man. I love his eccentricity. I love his mannerisms. I love his acting. I love just watching him. Here is a really great and hilarious interview with John from The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (Who was the first person featured in my Favorite Persons series!)

What a weird list. I'm odd.

Things that make me happy!

June 19th 2009 06:44
This is kind of a random post. It is just filled with things that make me happy. I find myself in a stellar mood tonight, so I thought I'd share with all of you some of my joy!

So, now presenting in no particular order....things that make me happy, and hopefully they get a few smiles from you!

Kathy Griffin!! This bitch makes me HAPPY! She's controversial, and admittedly not everyone's cup of tea. She's rude, crude, crass, vulgar, and one of the quickest and most witty people I've ever seen! A few nights ago she was on Larry King just discussing current events. Hilarious!

Here's a clip of Kathy's trip to Australia with Lance Bass

Musicians that make me happy:

Rasputina The following song is fairly morbid, but I think it is fabulous. It's called Gingerbread Coffin. Enjoy!

Damien Marley He's fantastic! Click on his name to hear one of my favorite songs feat. Damien.

Ben Harper Sexy and Smooth! This is a great song from a performance at Bonnaroo Music Festival, which is a FUN time! Burn One Down.

Mos Def Political hip hop. Love it! Not only do I love his music, but I adore his acting, and I am a huge fan of his activism. Plus, he's a crazy tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist who doesn't believe that we went to the moon. How could you NOT love that guy!

Queen! One of my all time faves. Freddie Mercury was a musical genius. This is my favorite song:

Other favorite things and people:

Gerard Butler (Obviously!) Sex incarnate.

Gerard Butler

Air Conditioning. Wish I had it. That would make me very happy. It's roasting here! I'm sweating my patootie off!

Women who make me smile (this is based purely on aesthetics and not on talent)

Joan Jett. She's sooo lovely. One of the most beautiful women EVER!

Joan Jett

Kate Winslet. She's one of the most beautiful women in cinema. Especially this picture!

Kate Winslet

Kim Kardashian. Ok, she's a waste of space talent-wise and intellectually. However, she has one of the most beautiful female forms. And her eyes are beautiful as well.

Kim Kardashian

Here are some things I find very funny. Not always the most mature sense of humor. While I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent young lady, dirty humor and bathroom humor never fail to amuse me.

This first one cracked me up because it makes fun of those horrible PC commercials where people are "ambushed" in parking lots by someone offering to pay for their computer if they can find one that meets all of their needs. Well, the following guy has some very specific requests!

How could the following video NOT make you smile for days??? It's the return of Box Cat, and he has a little angel baby face!!!

27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" id="ordie_player_66e74615dc">

This is an interview with Tracy Morgan on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that made me laugh. ANd yes, they're wearing snuggies. "This is better than family. No one around here asking me for my bone marrow." Hilariously stupid!

Ok, all of these things make me happy. How do you feel? Are you happy too? I can't tell you everything that makes me happy. Some things are secret. Shhhh!
