How to ruin a movie

August 9th 2009 23:01
Dear Movie Companies and Trailer making folks,

Please do not inform me in the trailer or T.V. spot for a movie that there is some sort of a crazy plot twist that will leave me breathless. This will only encourage me to obsess about what this "twist" is, and lead me to figure it out in the first 5 minutes of the film, thus ruining any potential enjoyment that I might have received from said movie were I not expecting this earth shattering "twist".

Thanks.

Kind Regards,

Natalina

If you're curious about the movie I've just seen, which contained a completely NOT shocking "twist"....click HERE

I do not understand all of the reviews saying that the end was SHOCKING and UNEXPECTED. Really? REALLY???

Ahhh, yes, the "art" of the trailer. Don't get me started.

The worst part is, I totally knew better. I knew the minute I saw the trailer that I'd spend the whole movie over analyzing every nuance trying to figure out what the fucking twist was going to be. I just didn't expect that it was going to be so damn obvious.

Is the movie any good?

Well...not bad, actually. It was fairly entertaining, I love Timothy Olyphant. He's not in enough movies if you ask me. I loved him to pieces as Seth Bullock, and he's very entertaining in this movie.

I'd recommend seeing it without the idea that it's going to knock your socks off like some of the trailers and critics have been saying. And it's possible that I was so preoccupied with my annoyance at the whole "twist" aspect that I wasn't able to just have fun with the movie.

I'd be very interested to hear your take.

Yeah I'm a big Timothy fan too, after Go! Didn't see that secret agent flick though ...

Hitman? I don't remember much about that movie except that Timothy was very sexy with his bald head...I don't know if that says much about the movie itself LOL

Go! How cool. I'd forgotten about that movie. I'll have to watch it again.

Natalina, in this case, I'm totally agreed with you. It didn't find it's shocking or unexpected as well! However, I must give this film a praise that the scenery is breathtaking!

looks like survivor island

Milla has always seemed evil since her role in Zoolander, she nailed it

Wilson, glad I wasn't the only one with that reaction. Oh but the scenery was incredible, wasn't it? Made me want to go to Hawaii so BAD! Someday.

Morgan, I really like Milla. I think she is so beautiful, and underrated actress. Have you ever heard her music?

I agree that the trailer for that movie was horrible. It made me not even want to see it, because it looked too predictable! Maybe I'll give it a go when it's out on DVD.

Kristin,

It really isn't a bad movie... it just set a really unrealistic expectation by announcing that the twist would stay with you "long after the movie's over!"...not so much. Unless you count the fact that I'm still obsessing about the lack of a twist

I'm not really sure if she's done anything recent, but years ago a friend of mine gave me one of her CDs, and I really liked it. Here's one of her vids, I really like the sound. It's mostly folksy type stuff:
