Using Your Kids to Protest Octomom: Two Wrongs Don't Make a Right

March 15th 2009 21:02
Up until this point, I've avoided reporting on the so-called "Octomom". I find the whole thing rather disgusting. At the end of the day, I am mostly sad for the kids, and hope that people don't punish them for the choices that their mother has made. Don't get me wrong. When I read that she was seen purchasing $1,000 worth of MAC cosmetics while asking strangers to donate to her family, I was mad. I don't approve of how she's handled herself.

Nadya Suleman Octomom

I don't mind people speaking their mind on issues that are important to them, but I was really appalled when I saw that there are a group of young kids that have been protesting Nadya Suleman and her impending move to their neighborhood.

I'm not going to post any links to pics of the protesting kids, because I refuse to be a party to their parents' exploitative actions. I'll just say that a few of the signs carried by the youngsters said things like, "Get Ur Tubes Tied." and: "Go Back to Whittier." Classy. Very classy.

Of course, we all know that the kids were put up to these antics by their parents. Adults, if you have something to say, or a protest you'd like to host, do it your damn self. Leave the kids out of it. Now news reporters and paparazzi are taking pictures of the picketing youths and splashing them everywhere. Why on earth would you knowingly get your kids involved in this mess? How are you making your point by using your own kids to do your dirty work?

You may be upset by the way Nadya Suleman has used her children to gain attention and affection, but when it comes to child exploitation, two wrongs do NOT make a right.

Stop It!

This woman is vile, no doubt. But I have to agree that the people who send their children out to protest are being taken advantage of, which is vile in its own right.

Good post, Natalie.

It's also pretty irresponsible of parents to send these kids out to protest for various other reasons. Fights are pretty likely to break out and that is putting them in physical danger as well.

Some people should not be allowed to breed. They treat children as possessions and weapons instead of precious gifts.
